I live in California but own a home in Boise, Idaho that my mother and sister live in. I needed to both enlarge and update Mom's small bathroom to put in a walk-in shower.

Jeff's business was highly recommended to me by one of my co-workers at HP for whom he'd built a home. It was my first attempt to work with a contractor on a home I own in another state, and it worked beautifully. I contacted him via e-mail right before Christmas, faxed him my drawings and ideas, talked with him on the phone and met with him in person only one time while I was in Boise for the holidays. We worked out a design and a contract, then signed the deal. Jeff was very flexible in this process, and we worked through several different alternatives before we finalized the plan. I benefited from listening to Jeff's ideas and options, and seeing some of the other homes he'd built. He referred me various websites to preview tile, paint, fixtures, and carpets. I then went to a few local stores to see the real thing. Jeff's designer has very good taste and knew what I wanted so I asked her to make the final decisions on things like tile, paint and carpet. She made great choices.

My sister sent me pictures of the construction progress as the transformation took place. The enlarged bathroom now has the walk-in shower with a bench and adjustable hand-held shower head, along with all of the grab bars needed in Mom's bathroom. But Jeff created a luxury bathroom that's as far from any "handicapped bathroom" you can imagine. The tile is beautiful, the cupboards look elegant, the colors are soft and warm.

It's amazing that Jeff and I were able to accomplish 90% of the business end of our contract over e-mail and a few phone calls. I'm used to working that way at my job but I didn't realize it could make a major life event like remodeling a bathroom go so much easier, especially when I'm trying to do that from 1000 miles away.

After months of looking at every home on the market trying to find one that had exactly what I wanted, I realized that there was no way I would be able to find what I was looking for. The only solution I could think of was to have what I wanted built. Almost everyone I know that has done this tried to talk me out of it, telling me how much of a headache it was and how they will never do it again. I over looked their suggestion and started the search for a builder. After talking to multiple builders and looking at their work I stumbled across Thompson Homes on the Internet. I glanced at their web site and saw some beautiful homes....My first reaction was "WOW, there is no way I can afford this high quality of home!"

I sat down with Jeff and Phil and listened to how they do business. I was impressed with what they had to say, which I expected after seeing some of Thompson Homes, Inc.'s Homes. I told Jeff what I wanted and what I could afford and he somehow made it happen.This being my first home I can truly say I was a little scared when I committed to having it built. However, the entire Thompson Family kept me informed of the status and helped me through all the steps and choices I had, they really made me feel so comfortable and confident that I had found the right builder. I could tell I was in good hands. Jeff's design ideas constantly impressed me, not to mention his patience.The end product turned out to be far more that I ever expected! I honestly can say that I am extremely glad I let Thompson Home take me through the process of building a new home!

I know in the future when I decide to move up, that Thompson Homes are the ones I want to work with again.
